VMware, now known as Broadcom, has revived the free edition of ESXi.

Broadcom has reintroduced the option to use a free ESXi license for standalone use, without advanced enterprise features or official Broadcom support. This option is ideal for studies, testing, and personal or home labs.

However, it's important to note that ESXi 8.0 Update 3e is a fully production-ready release, regardless of whether it's used with a paid or free license.

That said, features like vCenter, vMotion, and HA are not available.
